The white glaze known as “jigusuri” is one of the representative glazes created by thefirst-generation Shoji Hamada of the Hamada Kiln. On top of this, a black glaze is spontaneously applied, creating dynamic patterns with a dripping effect. The red enamel overglaze technique involves painting by tapping the brush, creating a touch that evokes a sense of rhythm. The cross-pattern and the red enamel in four places are balanced in a way that enhances the presentation of the dishes, giving them a harmonious feel. It's a wonderful piece where the artist's expression is conveyed through the movement of the glaze. While it suits well as a large dish for Japanese cuisine, sushi, and the like, it can also be enjoyed as a decorative plate.
