After carving and shaping the tea bowl, white slips are applied vertically with a brush. The brush strokes are not systematically applied but rather in a natural and varied manner. Following this, the rim is painted with iron slip, and then it is fired in a salt kiln. The distinctive features include the glossy texture from the salt and the changing expression of the white slips' brush strokes.
